Al-jazeera Journalists Sue Nigerian Military For Illegal Detention.
Two Al-jazeera journalists, Ahmed Idris – a reporter and Ali Mustapha – a camera man, both pictured above, have instituted a lawsuit against the Chief of Army staff, Gen Kenneth Minimah and the Nigerian military for what they term the infringement of their fundamental human rights following their illegal detention by the Nigerian military. They filed the suit in an Abuja high court this morning.
Both men are being detained in their hotel in Maiduguri, Borno state where they have been kept since March 24th over allegations of loitering around areas where combat operations was still ongoing.
According to their legal representative, Mr Femi Falana, the journalists are seeking a declaration from the court that their arrest and continued detention by the military is illegal and unconstitutional, thereby violating their right to personal liberty guaranteed by Section 34, 35 and 41 of the constitution and Article 5, 6 and 12 of the African Charter on Human and peoples’ Right Act.
The suit will also be seeking an order by the court directing the Nigerian military and the Chief of Army staff, Gen Minimah to immediately release the journalists from illegal military custody since loitering or wandering were not recognizable offences by the law.
The suit argues that the journalists were entitled to their liberty, freedom of movement and integrity to human person as guaranteed by Section 34, 35 and 41 of the Nigerian constitution.
No date has been announced for the hearing of the suit. Meanwhile the Defence Headquarters has not yet reacted to reports of the suit.

NDLEA Nabs Two Businessmen With N105m Drugs At Enugu Airport.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) attached to the Akanu Ibiam International Airport (AIIA) Enugu has arrested two businessmen for allegedly trafficking 11.66kg of cocaine and heroin worth N105, 000,000. This is just as the Chief Executive of NDLEA), Ahmadu Giade warned drug barons that the anti drug agency will continue to resist the use of Nigeria in drug trafficking. He noted that since the Enugu airport was upgraded to international status, some drug traffickers are targeting the use of the airport, adding that several attempts to smuggle drugs from East Africa, Brazil and other parts through the Enugu airport had been foiled by NDLEA. According to Giade, “the NDLEA is prepared to arrest drug traffickers and seize their drugs, notwithstanding the mode of concealment. These arrests, especially the suspect going to East Africa will definitely send a warning signal that the airports are not safe for drug trafficking. We are determined to always be on the alert and this arrest is a test of our vigilance because Bujumbura is not a regular route.” The NDLEA Commander at the Enugu airport, Nsikak-Abasi Udoh, said that two suspected drug suspects Obuora Christopher Nebe, 38 year-old and Iheme Promise Onyemauchechukwu, 27 year-old will soon be arraigned at the Federal High Court Enugu. According to him, “Obuora was found to have ingested 70 wraps of cocaine weighing 1.685kg on his way to Turkey, while Iheme had 9.975kg of heroin hidden inside cosmetics on his journey from Bujumbura, Burundi. They were both arrested during screening of passengers on Ethiopian airline flights”. The Commander explained that Obuora Christopher Nebe, who hails from Uriagwa in Anambra State confessed to the NDLEA that he would have been paid the sum of N1,000,000 million if he had succeeded. His route was Enugu, Adis Ababa and Turkey. Iheme Promise Onyemauchechukwu, who hails from Imo State, according to the agency was recruited in Tanzania by a suspected drug cartel in East Africa and that the suspect told narcotic investigators that he smuggled drugs because he was stranded. According to him, “I used to sell phone accessories before I left the country. I wanted to go to Malaysia in search of job opportunities, but I was stranded in Tanzania.”

It has pleased the Almighty God to give victory to Gen Mohammed Buhari, the Presidential candidate of the APC and the President elect. For the opportunities we have had we give God All the Glory.
We accept this as the Will of God and I personally congratulate the general for his success. We have ran a good race and fought a gallant battle. We are bowed but not cowed. We lost the crown but we gained a trophy.
The PDP family must not despair; If it took general Buhari 30 yrs to come back to power, it should take us much less.
To millions of our supporters we say thanks
To those who are our adversaries, the battle has been fought, and it has been won & lost
The strife is over for the next 4 yrs ONLY.
We rejoice with APC & the people of Nigeria
on the progress we have jointly made in our democratic journey. For our democracy to endure it is important that the winner clearly emerges while the loser concedes with equanimity.
Certainly we will be back. We will overcome this defeat and rise again to power and glory
In a twinkle of an eye.
God bless Nigeria.
APC Blast Alao-Akala Over His “Sai Buhari-Sai Akala” Campaign Posters
The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State has taken a swipe at the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party, Adebayo Alao-Akala, over the circulation of posters bearing pictures of the former governor and the President-Elect, Muhammadu Buhari, apparently, to gain sympathy from the electorate ahead of next week’s governorship election in the state. Campaign posters bearing the pictures of Messrs Buhari and Alao-Akala with “Sai Buhari, Sai Akala” boldly written on them have flooded particularly Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.Akala buhari Reacting to the development, the Director of Publicity and Strategy of the Oyo State chapter of the APC, Olawale Sadare, described the development as “another shameful act coming from enemies of the good people of the state”.
“Not a few people found it unbelievable to see the picture of the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, on Alao-Akala’s campaign posters,” Mr. Sadare said. “Since Wednesday evening when those disgusting posters were sighted in parts of Ibadan, a good number of concerned citizens have been expressing their amazement at the development. “Meanwhile, the ruling APC in the state view the action of the sponsors of such obnoxious campaign materials as a desperation taken too far. It is indeed another in the series of grand delusion which most members of the opposition have been feeding the public with in their bid to hijack power and return the state to the era of bad governance, official corruption and impunity.” He added that Mr. Buhari, given “what he has always represented”, would not “contemplate throwing up a corrupt element for an election or appointment”. In spite of the antics of the opposition in Oyo State to mislead the public, the APC remained confident that its candidate and incumbent Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, would be re-elected for an unprecedented second term on April 11, Mr. Sadare said.
Bode George Free To Relocate To Bayelsa – Tinubu
Bola Tinubu, national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has taunted Olabode George, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for saying he would flee if the APC wins the 2015 election. Tinubu said it was the personal decision of George to choose if he wants to stay or not. “He can decide to go now if he wants. Who cares?” he said. George had earlier said Tinubu would see him as a target should the APC come to power. “If Bola Tinubu finds his way into national government, I will go on exile,” he told Punch back in February. “He hasn’t the temerity and the calmness of mind. They don’t even know what to do in power. Because the vice-president is his boy, he will just order that Bode George should be picked up.” However, in another interview he granted after the result of the election had been announced, George said he was serious about the decision to flee. “What will I be doing here? I can decide to go and live anywhere. Look at everyone surrounding him (Buhari),” he said. ”So, I am not joking about it, what will I be doing here? At 70, what will I be doing here? All we have been doing to restructure the country has been lost. We have been trying to ensure balance in the polity but all that has gone. What else will I be doing here?” Tinubu asked him to relocate to Rivers or Bayelsa if he wishes to. “He had relocated temporarily before and came back. So it is not a new thing,” Tinubu said. “If he decided to relocate again, to where? It might be to Bayelsa, it might be to Rivers. It might be to anywhere. he has the freedom to live anywhere he wants. What’s my bother? I’m here. So me, too, I can relocate now.”

What Are They Up To? See Photo Of Asari Dokubo With 5,000 Militants Lined Behind Him (Photo).
The Militants are claiming they are facing constant abuse by the same people that ganged up against them. They are threatening them, and so have decided to meet them at the battlefield. This is the reason I warned that our youths must be careful because the way Buhari supporters are abusing those that voted Jonathan might trigger “we no gree again.” It is not a crime to vote for any candidate of your choice but our utterances may destroy Nigeria, and all those boasting Buhari will destroy this and that will realize that war is not as easy as they think. The election has come and gone peacefully but post election comments suppose to douse tension, instead many youths want to set Nigeria on fire ignorantly through their utterances. They don’t know the harm they are about to cause to Nigeria as a result of abusing and threatening other regions that voted Jonathan based on their convictions. Everybody must not vote for candidate of his or her choice, this democracy and not military system of government
OPC Leader, Gani Adams Congratulates Buhari, Calls Him Our Abraham Lincoln
After openly opposing General Buhari on several occasions before last Saturday’s presidential election, the Oodua Peoples Congress National Coordinator, Gani Adams has also given up, and has amended himself by sending a congratulatory message to the people’s General. Adams didn’t just only congratulate him but compared him with the great Abraham Lincoln, saying we all have a lot to learn from him. “I wish to send my congratulations to the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, on his success in the recently-concluded presidential election. By his resounding success in the election across the country, General Buhari has proved that he is the choice of the people. “I commend his resilience and tenacity over the years which have seen him equal the record of great leaders like Abraham Lincoln of the USA. His victory is a lesson to all of us that we can be what we want to be if we are patient and persistent in our legitimate pursuits in life. “His speeches before, during and after the election are also commendable because they went a long way in dousing the tension in the country. This actually shows that the ‘Peoples General’ as he is fondly called is indeed a statesman’’. “However, having won the election, I want the president-elect to begin to see himself as the president-elect of all Nigerians and not just that of the All Progressives Congress (APC). For him, it is time to mend whatever differences that may have arisen as a result of the election. “It is time for all Nigerians, irrespective of political affiliation, to come together to continue to build our nation in a positive way, which of course, should be the focus of the president-elect himself and every other political leader across the various political parties in the country. “And for all of us, it is a new dawn in the annals of the country for an opposition party to win in a popular election’’, he said.
Patience Jonathan: I haven't packed out of Aso Rock yet
First Lady Patience Jonathan says she has not started packing out of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja. Mrs Jonathan was reacting to a media report on Wednesday that she had summoned her domestic staff and ordered them to pack her personal belongings in readiness for a change of guard. The report had said that when it became evident by 6pm on Tuesday that President Goodluck Jonathan had lost his re-election bid, a truck made two trips transporting the first lady’s property to an undisclosed destination. But Mrs. Jonathan’s spokesman, Mr Ayo Adewuyi, in a telephone chat with our correspondent described the report as untrue. Adewuyi also dispelled the rumours that the first lady had travelled out of the country. “She (Patience) is at home. Just leave us out of any controversy. She did not travel to anywhere. She is very much around in her residence,” Adewuyi said. On why Mrs. Jonathan had not gone to office since her husband lost the Saturday’s presidential poll, Adewuyi simply said: “You should know that she does not have to be in the office every time
