According to Sahara Reporters, no less than 19 members of the Ekiti State House Assembly have commenced investigations into allegations of gross misconduct leveled against the state governor, Ayo Fayose. The investigations are said to be the first step in a series of plans to impeach the governor. One of the legislators in Ekiti reportedly confirmed the news, telling Sahara Reporters’ newsmen: “We are going to look at the allegations against Governor Ayodele Fayose in a responsible manner and make our decision in line with the rule of law and the overall interest of the people of the state… I can assure you that this is not a case of partisan witch-hunt. We are approaching the investigation with an open mind. No conclusions can be reached without a thorough investigation.” According to reports, if Fayose is impeached, he would have made history as the first Nigerian governor to be impeached twice, as he was impeached in 2006 the first time he was governor of the state. Here are some documents on the case obtained by Sahara Reporters: -
