Melo Melo!!! See How Buhari Intends To Improve Power Supply

President Muhammadu Buhari has
vowed that his administration will give
topmost priority to the improvement
of power supply in the country.
This was disclosed in a statement by
his special adviser on Media and
Publicity, Femi Adeshina who spoke
while granting audience to official of
the Chinese Construction Company
(CGGC) working on the Mambilla
Power project
According to the president aide, it
was quite regrettable that power
generation in Nigeria had failed to
keep pace with national needs over
the years.
To salvage the situation, Adesina has
disclosed that President Buhari
would ensure the Mambilla project
and other unfinished hydro-power
projects in the country are
completed expeditiously to boost
power supply in the country.
“I am very much interested in
Mambilla and other hydro-power
projects, not only for the
improvement of power but also for
irrigation as both power and
irrigation projects will help to
improve the lives of Nigerians.
“I am going to ask for details of the
Mambilla Hydro-Power Project and
others. Very soon, we will get
together and redefine the project
agreements for faster results,” he
said.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu
Buhari has been urged to take a cue
from the United State and cancel the
Same s*x Marriage Prohibition Act
of 2014.

Why Patience Jonathan’s Security Aide Was Murdered

Fresh details have emerged following
the death of DSP Tamuno Jacob
Igbomie, a former security aide to
Patience Jonathan.
A security source, who spoke to
Leadership, said Tamuno, was
murdered because of the role he
played as the former first lady’s
aide.
It was gathered that DSP Igbomie,
who was killed along Airport road,
Abuja, was a very close aide to
Patience Jonathan and had stepped
on several toes in the discharge of
his duties as principal security
officer to the former first lady.
The source also disclosed that DSP
Igbomie, an indigene of Okrika in
Rivers state, was a very influential
player during the days of the
political campaigning for the last
election. It is believed that he must
have incurred the wrath of many
people who crossed the part of the
first lady.
“The killing cannot be unconnected
with his previous appointment as the
PSO to our former president wife.
They have started killing people who
knew about their dirty deals. It shows
that more people close to the former
president should watch their backs.
Those people act like mafia and they
will go to any length to have their
way,” he said.
Speaking to the media outfit,
another source affirmed that
Igbomie, may have been engaged in
some deals while acting as security
aide and the people may have
returned for a payback.
He called on the police to investigate
all angles to the incident and ensure
that the murderers are brought to
book.
Jacob might know something that
could implicate some persons at the
probe panel that is about to be
constituted. He might have picked up
some implicating evidence against
some powerful people when he was
very close to power. He could have
done some deals with them which
they feel might implicate them,” the
source said.
The source further added that the
killers could have come from Rivers
state where the former first lady
played a major role in the crisis that
erupted in the state during the last
general election.
“All the killings that went on in
Rivers State by evil men in their
desperation for powers may not go
unpunished. All those responsible for
the killing of innocent people during
the election all because of politics
will definitely be punished,” the
source said.
The former PSO, who was married
with two children, was killed by
assassins who shot him at point-
blank range in his car and left the
engine running.
Tamuno Jacob Igbomie, was serving
at the Federal Capital Territory
Police Command before he was
deployed to the Presidential Villa as
Aide-De-Camp to Patience when her
husband was the Vice President.
He was later appointed as the PSO to
Patience when her husband became
the President in 2011.
It was gathered that the late
policemen had just been redeployed
back to his former position at the
FCT Police Command, where he was
in charge of posting of junior
officers before his demise.

NDLEA Discovers 3 Drug Labs Worth Billions In Anambra(Photos)

The National Drug Law Enforcement
Agency, (NDLEA) has arrested an
international drug peddler from
Ozobulu, Anambra state.
The agency discovered three
clandestine laboratories used for
illegal production of
methamphetamine built by the
dealer Chukwunwendu Sylvester
Ikejiakwu , aka Blessed,.
The illegal drug factories were
detected in Anambra State South
East Nigeria. A suspected drug
kingpin Mr. Chukwunwendu
Sylvester Ikejiakwu aka Blessed who
was arrested is said to be the owner
of the laboratories and leader of an
International Drug Trafficking
Organization (DTO) that recruits and
sponsors drug couriers to China,
Malaysia, Turkey and Italy.
NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive,
Ahmadu Giade said that sufficient
evidences had been gathered on the
suspect to ease his prosecution.
According to the NDLEA boss who
described the arrest as the latest
outstanding operational success
recorded by the Agency, “the Special
Enforcement Team (SET) of the
NDLEA has concluded a model
investigation of an International
Drug Trafficking Organization (DTO).
The Agency apprehended the
suspected leader of a drug syndicate
in his country home at Ozubulu
after thirteen months of intense
surveillance. Three additional
clandestine laboratories that
produce methamphetamine had
been discovered in his home town
in Anambra State”.
Giade stated that based on
intelligence report received on April
23, 2014, a high level covert
operation commenced on the
suspect Mr. Chukwunwendu
Sylvester Ikejiakwu aka Blessed of
Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local
Government Area of Anambra State.
“The 37 year old suspected drug
kingpin was found to be deeply
involved in Unlawful Exportation of
illicit drugs, Unlawful Assembling as
well as running of
methamphetamine production
laboratories in the Eastern part of
Nigeria. He shuttles between his
country home in Ozubulu, Nnewi
and No. 2, St, James Close Ajao
Estate Isolo Lagos where he resides
in Lagos for his drug business” he
added.
The Agency equally uncovered that
Chukwunwendu Sylvester Ikejiakwu
aka Blessed is the Group Managing
Director of Blessed Group of
Companies. He hides under the
cover of motorcycle parts business
in running a drug cell that has
international affiliation. His
companies include Blessed Benita
Global Limited, Ideal Motorcycle
Company Limited and God’s Special
Enterprise Limited. He specializes in
recruiting and sponsoring drug
couriers to China, Malaysia, Turkey
and Italy. He also pays his couriers
an average of $5,000 dollars per trip.
He runs the clandestine
methamphetamine laboratories in
his premises located in Akubuezem
Nnewi, Anambra State. It was
gathered that he hired one Raphael
who is a professional
methamphetamine cook to work for
him. He pays him five hundred
thousand naira (N500,000) for his
service and seven hundred thousand
naira (N700,000) for the purchase of
precursor chemicals per production
cycle. The production capacity per
cycle is 14kg.
“During a search on one of the
laboratories at his Nnewi house,
2.615kg of liquid methamphetamine
was found inside a yellow plastic jug
and 250grammes of crystallized
methamphetamine concealed in a
white transparent polythene bag.
Methamphetamine laboratory
equipment seized from his house
include the following; One (1)
approximate volume measuring
scale, Six (6) heating filters, Six giant
conical flasks, industrial tubes and
cups of sodium hydroxide. Others
are containers of iodine, Acetone,
Hydrochloric Acid, weighing scale,
masks and hand gloves among
others” the NDLEA boss added.
Also recovered from him are
paraphernalia for drug concealment
similar to the ones seized with drugs
at the airports and land borders.
They include an electronic weighing
scale, assorted artifacts, laptop bags,
motorcycle parts, air compressors,
bus and truck mirrors, araldite and
Atiso paint, processed brown
envelopes and impulse sealer.
Others are transparent packing
nylon and carbon paper, tower foil
paper, needles, threads, super glue
and many more.
The suspect had two (2) Nigeria
International passports and one
Ghana passport all bearing his
photographs with different names.
Details of his three passports are as
follows; Ikechukwu Sylvester
Chukwunwe, Nigeria passport with
No: 04272646; Samson Odinakar:
Nigeria passport No: A03472814 and
Anthony Yeboah Frank, Ghana
passport No: H2437245. Two other
passports belonging to suspected
drug couriers were also seized.
While surveillance on this criminal
group was ongoing, the NDLEA
intercepted 23kg of
methamphetamine on February 19,
2015 along Badagry expressway,
Lagos en-route Cotonou. The seized
drug was ultimately traced to
Chukwunwendu Sylvester Ikejiakwu
aka BLESSED. One AZUBIKE is now
standing trial at the Federal High
court Lagos in respect of that
seizure. Some drug couriers
sponsored by him have been
arrested and are in prison custody
in China, Turkey and Malaysia.
Some of the assets believed to be
purchased with drug proceeds had
been traced. “We are investigating
over sixteen bank accounts
belonging to him in different banks.
He has a Toyota Venza with vehicle
registration No AAA 18 BP, a Peugeot
406 with vehicle registration No FST
587 AS; a Q5 Audi four runner with
vehicle registration No EPE 546 CF
and a Toyota Sienna SUV with
vehicle registration No KRD 399 CG.
He allegedly bought a piece of land
at No. 21A Joy Avenue, Ajao Estate
in 2009 at the cost of twenty five
million naira (N25,000,000) and
rebuilt it in 2012 to three (3) story
building at the cost of ninety million
naira (N90,000,000) only. He also
bought a property at No 2 St. James
Close Ajao Estate for seventeen
million naira (N17,000,000) and built
a five (5) bedroom duplex on it at
the cost of twenty five million naira
(N25,000,000) only.
The illegal drug activities of the
suspect have grave economic, social
and political consequences on the
nation. Methamphetamine
production generates toxic waste
that pollutes the environment and
exposes workers, neighbours and
guests to health hazards. Young and
active youths are used as drug
couriers to smuggle produced drugs
outside the country. This is in
addition to creating local drug
addicts due to availability of the
drugs at affordable cost.
Some of the drug couriers he
sponsored are languishing in jail in
China, Malaysia, Turkey and Italy.
Some are believed to have died in
foreign prisons. Besides, Nigeria has
suffered international
embarrassment due to arrest of our
nationals abroad
Notwithstanding the challenges,
Giade said that the era of in-depth
and analytical investigations have
come to stay in the NDLEA. A solid
foundation has been established and
we shall continue to build on the
existing structures. The Agency shall
ensure that this case is diligently
prosecuted and all assets traced to
the suspect and his group is
forfeited to the federal government.
He reassured members of the public
that no drug baron shall go
unpunished. At the most expedient
time, more drug barons shall be
exposed and prosecuted. I wish to
thank the officers that took part in
the operation and urge them not to
relent as every outstanding
performance shall be rewarded.

Fuse ODG Told BET What Many African Artists Are Scared To Spit Out

We all know it, and talk about it
every year. The fact that our(African) BET
International Award winners are
given their awards backstage, and
don’t have a chance to receive their
award live or give a live thank you
message (usually pre-recorded).
Considering that most of the artists
nominated for the international
award fly in various countries in
Africa or Europe it kind of seems
unfair. But no artist nominated has
ever been vocal about it even when
their fans are. In the past years,
some have even defended BET and
claimed they didn’t receive their
award backstage even when it was
clear they did.
Fuse ODG just proved he’s bold
enough to put an end to all that
with a tweet he directed at BET
saying that he didn’t come for the
award show because he feels
disrespected to receive his award
backstage.

See Gobe: Davido In NDLEA Trouble Over New Video“Fans Mi”

We are investigating him, says agency.
Multiple award winner and
international act, Davido, is in trouble
with the National Drug Law
Enforcement Agency(NDLEA) over his new song/video titled ‘Fans mi'.
NDLEA is currently investigating
Davido (real name DavidAdeleke)
for showcasing hard drugs in the
video featuring Maybach music
artist, Meek Mill.  The video which
has gone viral since it was released
earlier this month, Davido is seen
discussing with an unidentified man
as they haggle over a briefcase of
dollars and a bag full of parcels of
hard drugs. There are also lewd
scenes in the video.
The song is supposed to promote the Omo Baba Olowo crooner’s gratitude and appreciation to his fans for their love and support towards his career
over the years.
However, the singer was busy
singing about his enemies and
money, showcasing hard drugs,
Unclothedness and guns in the
video.
Some fans have expressed
dissatisfaction over the song/video,
claiming the talented singer should
have done better by showing
pictures of his fans, his past shows
and encounters with fans, rather
than the display of hard drugs,
Unclothedness and guns. In an
emailed comment to Sunday
Telegraph, NDLEA’s Head of Public
Affairs, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, said,
“The agency considers the musical
video ‘Fans Mi’ inappropriate and
indecent. It has the tendency to
negatively influence and induce
drug use and trafficking.
Besides, it is counter-productive on
the campaign against drug
production, trafficking and abuse.
The agency is investigating the
matter and will take necessary
action.” Also speaking, popular
music video critics, Mrs. Nuella
O’Peters, said, “It’s really outrageous
seeing a brand ambassador and a
mentor to millions of African youths
indulging in such acts. He even went
as far as using the substance for
cooking in the video.
Can you imagine! It’s uncalled for.
I do hope the Nigeria Broadcasting
Corporation will do something about
the video.” Davido is a song writer,
performer and a recording artiste
from Nigeria. He recently postponed
the release of his highly anticipated
album on his birthday.

Buhari’s Govt Incurs N57b Petrol Subsidy Debt

The Federal Government has
incurred a total sum of N56.784bn in
petrol subsidy arrears since
Muhammadu Buhari took over as
President of the country on May 29,
this year.
According to data from the
Petroleum Products Pricing
Regulatory Agency, obtained from
the agency’s website on Friday, the
country is said to be incurring petrol
subsidy arrears to the tune of N47.32
per day on one litre of petrol.
Between May 29 and now, the
current government has spent 30
days in office.
Based on a daily petrol consumption
figure of 40 million litres, a figure
supplied by the Pipelines and
Products Marketing Company, the
total subsidy cost on the product for
the 30 days the Buhari government
has been in power amounts to
N56.784bn at N47.32 per litre.
The current PPPRA figures put the
total cost of Premium Motor Spirit
(petrol) at N134.32 per litre, of
which N118.83 is the landing cost
while N15.49 is the sub-total of the
margins.
According to the PPPRA, the cost of
a litre of petrol with freight is
N106.85; traders’ margin, N1.47;
lightering expenses, N4.19; the
Nigerian Ports Authority rate, N0.77;
financing, N1.75; jetty depot
thru’put charge, N0.80; and storage
cost, N3.00.
For the distribution margins,
retailers are entitled to N4.60 per
litre of petrol; transporters, N2.99;
dealers, N1.75; bridging fund, N5.85;
marine transport average, N0.15;
and administrative charge, N0.15.
For the period under review, only
the Nigerian National Petroleum
Corporation is said to be importing
petrol because members of the
Major Oil Marketers Association of
Nigeria have refused to import
owing to subsidy arrears owed them
by the Federal Government.
Oil marketers had on June 3 this
year said they were still being owed
over N291bn subsidy claims.
They also denied being saboteurs on
account of the petrol scarcity, which
recently hit Nigerians and the
nation’s economy.
Then, the Executive Secretary, Depot
and Petroleum Products Marketers
Association, Mr. Olufemi Adewole,
was quoted as saying, “It has
become necessary to state the fact
that depot owners and other fuel
importers under the ‘petroleum
support fund scheme’ are still being
owed billions of naira in subsidy
reimbursement, interest on delayed
payment and foreign exchange
differentials.”
Adewole said the former Minister of
Finance and Coordinating Minister
for the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-
Iweala, had accused the association
and a sister union of sabotage in her
letter to them, a copy of which she
reportedly released to the Senate for
reference.
He, however, said the letter did not
state the timeline for the re-
verification exercise which the
minister instituted on the amount
she disputed.
It also did not state the expected
date of payment, which the ‘PSF’
participants had been clamouring
for in all the meetings held with
Okonjo-Iweala since February 2015.
“It would be injustice against
participants in the ‘PSF scheme’ who
actually render a social service to
the nation by importing petrol at
international rate and sell below
cost price at the behest of the
Federal Government to be labelled
as saboteurs.
This is just because they asked to be
refunded the difference between the
landing cost of the imported petrol
and the local selling price in line
with the agreed conditions of
participation,” Adewole said.
Meanwhile, the transition committee
set up by President Muhammadu
Buhari shortly after he was declared
the winner of the March 28
presidential election had advised
him to end the fuel subsidy
programme and privatise the
nation’s four refineries.
Sources in the All Progressives
Congress, were said to have
revealed the recommendation to
Reuters some days ago.
Nigeria, which is Africa’s top oil
producer and biggest economy,
heavily subsidises petrol and
kerosene consumption and relies on
imports for the bulk of its domestic
demand due to an under-performing
refining system.
The subsidy regime, which was said
to have handed out more than N1tn
in fraudulent claims to oil marketers
in 2012, is proving to be increasingly
costly.
Buhari is said to be considering the
recommendations made in the
strategy report produced by the 19-
member committee led by Ahmed
Joda.

Why I Signed With Glo – Wizkid

Nigeria’s music superstar Wizkid,
has shed light on the circumstances
surrounding his new endorsement
deal with Nigeria’s
telecommunications giant,
Globacom.
In a statement released in Lagos by
his Manager, Mr. Sunday Are,
Wizkid said Globacom is a brand he
had admired for a very long time

its very massive impact and image
in the entertainment industry in
Nigeria.
“Globacom is huge in my industry

improving the industry and the lives

to reality came, and I took it.”
“It’s an incredible blessing to be
sought after by arguably Nigeria’s
two most powerful brands at the
same time.
My decision to go with Globacom
this time is not an act of spite
against MTN.
I simply seized an opportunity to
move from Yellow land to greener
pastures. God bless

See The Deadly Sexually Transmitted Disease That Even Condom Can't Prevent (Photo)

Condoms have been hyped as master-
protectors against $exually transmitted
infections.
However, health experts are
warning that in as much as condoms
significantly decrease transmission
rates of the most life-threatening
viruses such as HIV and hepatitis B
and C, it’s not foolproof.
At a meeting of cancer specialists at
the University of Nairobi last week,
reproductive health expert, Nelly
Mugo, said that even as we take
protective measures using condoms
against most STIs including HIV/
Aids, the rubber sheaths cannot
provide 100 per cent protection
against the Human Papilloma Virus
(HPV). “Condoms offer 60 per cent
of HPV thus the virus can spread
through skin-to-skin contact with
infected areas of the skin not
covered by the condom such as the
scrotum, anus, or vulva,” Dr Mugo
said.
The 2014 Kenya Demographic and
Health Survey, released last week,
shows that male condoms are the
most popular method among
$exually active unmarried women.
Unmarried men too seem to prefer
condoms as the popular method to
protect against STIs. But for a virus
whose disease has no symptoms, the
inefficacy of condoms allows for
faster and wider spread, especially
amongst those with multiple s*x
partners.
The only 100 per cent effective way
to prevent HPV transmission is
abstinence from any s*xual contact,
including or*l, an*l, and vaginal s*x.
See also: Morning after:That ‘oops’
moment when women’s emergency
pills backfire Since abstinence may
not be a realistic option, Dr Mugo
advises remaining monogamous
while in a relationship, vaccination
and screening for women. Women
can also pa$$ viruses without having
any symptoms.
But the chance of females infecting
men is estimated at less than five
per cent of the rates of male-to-
female transmission. There are more
than 100 types of HPV and about 13
of these are cancer causing, with
HPV types 16 and 18 causing
approximately 70 per cent of all
cervical cancers worldwide. Sadly,
it’s physically difficult to tell
whether your partner has the HPV
virus unless they have private part
warts, yet those who do not have
visible signs can also spread the
virus.
The other interesting aspect of this
particular virus is that you do not
need to have s*x for it to be pa$$ed
on from one person to another. The
virus is found in the flora of the
man-hood, scrotum, vag1na,
vulva@, or anus of a person who
has the HPV. One can get infected
through kissing or touching an
infected s*x organs or through or*l
s3’x.
Since cervical cancer is the leading
cause of cancer deaths among adult
women, in the developing world,
and the second most common
cancer among women worldwide,
preventive measures include getting
a pap smear for women and/or
getting vaccinated.
Better still, it’s important that you
be honest with your partner about
your s3’x history. Immunizing all
girls before becoming $exually
active ideally aged nine to 13 years
in order to lower the risk of HPV
took off in Kenya under a pilot
project in Kitui County in 2013,
targeting 20,000 girls.

Aregbesola Begins Payment Of Osun Workers’ Salaries

The Osun State government led by the
embattled governor, Ogbeni Rauf
Adesoji Aregbesola has begun the part
payment of salary arrears it owes his
workers.
Having being paid since February,
the Local Government Workers in
Osun State have started to collect
their March and April 2015
salaries.The alerts for the payment
have started coming in from Friday
June 26, 2015 afternoon.
It was also gathered that workers in
others categories in the state would
get their payment early next week
starting from Monday June 29, 2015
as promised by Governor Rauf
Aregbesola.
Impeccable sources in the state
revealed that labour unions rejected
the option by the government to pay
them two to three months and
return to their duties posts.
They insisted that they (workers)
would collect nothing less than five
months salaries before they would
call off the on-going strike in the
state.
The State Chairman of the Nigeria
Labour Congress (NLC), Jacob
Adekomi, was said to have handed
down the decision during a meeting
with government officials in the
state.
But, the government made it clear
that there was no way it could raise
five months salaries at once
presently, and that payment had to
be gradual.

Suicide Bomber Blew Herself Up!!!Disobeys Boko Haram

A young girl strapped with explosives
and sent to a crowded mosque this
week, made a detour and running away
to kill only herself.
This recent act of bravely by the
young girl has added fuel to the
belief that Boko Haram are using
unwilling captives in its terror
campaign in northeast Nigeria.
Security forces personnel arrive at
the site of a blast
The girl who is said to look around
12 years of age, took off after her
partner blew up in another
explosion which took the lives of
around 30 people on Monday in
Maiduguri.
“In the confusion of the blast, the
other girl just ran away and only
exploded when she was far from
the crowd,” said fishmonger Idi
Idrisa.
It’s unclear if the girl’s runaway was
due to fear or purpose but this
recent action has made many to
believe that Boko Haram are using
some of its thousands of kidnap
victims as unwilling weapons.
One military expert told reporters
that most bombs carried by girls and
women have remote detonation
devices, meaning the carrier cannot

Tension Rises Over Aregbesola's Impeachment

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
has lauded the Osun state House of
Assembly for commencing
impeachment proceedings against
Governor Rauf Aregbesola, describing
it as a welcomed development to save
the state.
The Judge of the state, Justice
Oloyede Folahanmi, had earlier
petitioned the state House of
Assembly asking the members to
institute impeachment proceedings
against the governor and his deputy
over alleged mismanagement of the
state’s financial resources in
accordance with Sections 128 and
129 of the 1999 constitution.
Reacting to the proceedings, the PDP
in a statement has berated that
governor for his inability to pay the
salaries of civil servants in the state,
which it said were now “refugees in
their own land, living on handouts
from compassionate religious and
corporate bodies”.
The party, according to Vanguard,
says the governor is clueless on how
to turn around the economic
fortunes of the state, adding that
Aregbesola himself had alluded to
this in time past.
It urged lawmakers not to relent in
their efforts to write their name in
gold by going ahead with the
impeachment process irrespective of
the pressure on them, noting that
their stand will save their
constituents from economic disaster.
“We are aware of the tremendous
pressure being brought upon the
lawmakers by the insensitive
leaders and chieftains of the All
Progressives Congress within and
outside of the state, but the
lawmakers owe posterity and their
generations unborn this moment of
history to offer the state the last
straw before it would collapse
irretrievably.
The party accused the governor of
plotting to kill the impeachment
proceedings against him by
whipping up political sentiments.
Meanwhile, the Asiwaju Grassroots
Foundation has asked the speaker of
the Osun State House of Assembly,
Najeem Salaam, to ignore a petition
seeking the impeachment of
Governor Rauf Aregbesola over the
inability of the state to pay its
workers’ salaries.

Really? See How Much Michael Jackson Has Made Since His Death

Ever since pop star Michael Jackson
passed away, a fortune has reportedly
been made from his name.
According to TMZ, the estate has
grossed nearly $2 billion since
Jackson’s death. The money comes
from the movies “This is It,” the
Cirque show “Michael Jackson: The
Immortal World Tour,” 50 million
albums sold and various other
ventures.
After expenses, that $2 billion gets
cut down to around $800m, which is
a very good return. But the $800 mil
gets significantly cut by taxes –
we’re told to around $450 million.
MJ’s debts at the time of his death
were around $500 million, so just on
those two numbers the estate
approaches being in the black.
But there are other ventures, like
Sony, where the estate generates a
lot of cash.
As for Michael’s kids, there’s a trust
where millions gets distributed as
they get older.
Sources told TMZ that ‘if the estate
were completely liquidated today,
each kid would get around $100
million’.
Michael Jackson died June 25th, 2009
at the age of 50.

Saraki And APC Again: Makes Ndume Senate Leader

The APC is being dragged in the mud
by Senator Bukola Saraki and his gang. Three out
of the four principal officers of the
Senate assumed office on Thursday
after the Senate President, Saraki, read
their nomination letters from their
respective zonal caucuses in the red
chamber, against APC’s wish again.
Saraki at the resumed sitting of the
federal lawmakers, refused to read
the letter sent to him by APC leaders
but read out the letters addressed to
him by the APC senate caucuses
from the North-East, North-West
and South-South.
He said the North-East caucus had
endorsed and nominated Senator Ali
Ndume as the Majority Leader,
while the North-West caucus
adopted Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah
as Deputy Majority Leader.
The South-South caucus according to
their own letter, adopted France
Alimikhena as the deputy whip.
He subsequently asked the Sergeant–
at– Arms to lead the three principal
officers to their respective seats and
assume office immediately.
Saraki was, however, silent on the
Chief Whip because members of the
South-West caucus which should
produce a representative, did not
write any letter.
It was learnt that the South-West
senators refused to write any letter
because they claimed that the
party’s decision as contained in its
letter, was sufficient.
Attempts by the senator
representing Zamfara Central,
Kabiru Marafa, to make the Senate
President read the letter from the
National Chairman of the party,
Chief John Odigie-Oyegun,
containing lists of the principal
officers, was again frustrated by
Saraki.
Marafa had cited Senate Standing
Order 28 (1) and Constitution point
of order Section 65, (1E), to drive
home his arguments.
He said, “According to the
provision, there should be a
majority leader of the Senate who
should be a senator nominated from
the party with the highest number
of senators.
“This point of order was raised
yesterday (Wednesday) and another
colleague raised another point of
order distinguishing between the
word, from and by, which was used
there. That is why I am joining it
with order 65 (1d) of the
constitution.
“It says subject to the provisions of
section 66 of the constitution. A
person shall be qualified for election
as a member of the Senate if he or
she is a member of a political party
and sponsored by the political party.
“Mr. President, there is a
communication from the APC which
is the party with the majority reps in
the Senate. However, for reasons
best known to you Mr. President,
you declined to read it on the floor
of the Senate when your attention
was drawn to the communication
from the party.
“The constitution provision just
cited, clearly put the party ahead of
any other caucus from anywhere.
Therefore, if the communication
from the party, can so be regarded, I
suggest that you, Mr. President
cannot read any communication
from any caucus because there is no
caucus that is bigger than the
political party.”
Saraki ruled Marafa out of order,
stressing that he had concluded on
the issue at Wednesday’s sitting.

JAGABAN!! Tinubu Sacks 300 Out Of 375 Staff In His Company

The consulting firm owned by the
former governor of Lagos state,
Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, seem to be
enmeshed in a major controversy.
The company, Alpha-Beta Consulting
Limited is already facing the
prospect of being picketed by the
Association of Senior Staff of Bank
and Financial Institutions (ASSBIFI)
after the management sacked 300
workers in one fell swoop.
The company’s total staff strength is
about 375. Daily Trust gathered that
the staff were sacked because they
wanted to form a union in order to
send a message to the management
of the company.
The ASSBIFI’s officials visited the
premises of the company as early as
7.am yesterday, June 23, in a protest,
while displaying placards and
criticising the action of the
company’s management.
Some of the inscriptions on the
placards were, “Alpha Beta is a
lawless organization,” “Injustice to
humanity must stop.”
Tinubu is currently facing a major
political battle in his party, All
Progressives Congress as his
preferred candidates in the National
Assembly elections endorsed by the
party were defeated recently.
Meanwhile, Tinubu has ordered the
newly elected officials to apologise
to him via newspapers in order to
pacify him.
