Gbese Reoo!!!Robbers Snatch LG Workers’ Salaries In Enugu

Daredevil armed robbers on Saturday
snatched N3 million meant for
payment of workers’ salaries and
allowances in Oji River Local
Government Area of Enugu State.
The workers reportedly snatched the
money from one Victor Chukwuani,
believed to be a cashier with Oji River
LGA, at Lagos Street, within the Ogui
axis of Enugu metropolis on Friday
morning.
Also in Akwa Ibom State, the Nigerian
Navy, NNS Jubilee, in Ikot Abasi Local
Government Area of Akwa Ibom,
handed over three suspected oil
thieves to the Nigerian Security and
Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
In Enugu, it was gathered that
Chukwuani had withdrawn the money
from a New Generation Bank located
at Rangers Avenue in Enugu, split it
into two and placed it differently in
his car before leaving the bank
premises
But as he drove along Lagos Street, a
green coloured Spider car double-
crossed him.
Four men jumped down from the car
and ordered him at gunpoint to bring
the money.
He was said to have handed over a
part of the money to them but the
robbers insisted that they saw him
divide the money into two and that he
should bring the balance.
The cashier handed over the money to
the robbers and they escaped from
the scene immediately
Spokesman of Enugu State Police
Command, Ebere Amaraizu,
confirmed the incident in a statement
on Saturday.
Amaraizu said: “Chukwuani believed
to be a cashier with the said council
had claimed that on 24/7/15 in the
morning that he had gone to a new
generation bank located at Rangers
Avenue in Enugu where he allegedly
withdrew the sum of N3 million being
money meant for salaries and
allowances of some staff of the local
government which according to him
is to be paid cash.
“He further claimed that after the
withdrawal, he split the money into
two and placed them differently
inside his personal car and drove off
and at lagos street within ogui axis,a
spider car green in colour blocked
him and with the emergence of four
men armed with gun and ordered
him to give them the money.
“According to him, he released the
first bag to them and they insisted
that one other bag is left and
threatened to shoot him before it was
finally given to them and they
disappeared.
“Meanwhile Chukwuani is yet to give
convincing reason why himself went
alone to withdraw such a money and
why the option of paying by salary
and allowance by hand contrary to
their system of paying staff through
bank,” Amaraizu said.
The suspected oil thieves in Akwa
Ibom were arrested for allegedly
stealing 8,420 litres of products
suspected to be Premium Motor Spirit
(PMS), two generators, one pumping
machine, one 40 horse power out-
