A woman suspected to have sold her new born
baby for N70,000 has been apprehended by
men of the Enugu state police command.
The woman identified as Chinwendu Agbo, 26,
from Ehalumona and residing in Obollafor
Lodge, reportedly sold her baby, Ngozi Eze,
which she gave birth to last week Thursday.
The police has also traced the woman who
bought the baby. She allegedly hails from
Umuabor Ehalumona but resides in Enugu town.
Confirming the incident, the Enugu state police
command public relations officer, Ebere
Amaraizu, said the command had commenced
investigation into the case.
A statement from the police read, “ we have
commenced investigation into the alleged
incident of child trafficking at Obolo Afor in
Udenu local government area of the state.
“Suspect Chinwendu Agbo of Ehalumona
residing at Obolloafor Lodge and about 26 years
was said to have sold her new born baby boy
identified as one Ngozi Eze which she gave
birth to on 6/8/15 at the sum of N70,0000 to a
woman at Umuabor Ehalumona but living in
Enugu.
“A full scale investigations have commenced as
suspects are helping the police in their
investigations.”
Just recently, a 34-year-old pregnant woman
identified as Ikhenbor Joy, was reportedly
beaten unconscious another pregnant woman,
identified as Gift Nkechi, over a rift.
Leadership reports that the 8-month pregnant
women got into a brawl at No 3 Ikhuenbor Lane
off Odion Street, Evbuotubu Quarters in Egor
local government in Edo state.
Joy allegedly bit and pounced on Nkechi, hitting
her with her fists. The beating was said to have
led doctors to perform a caesarian section on
Nkechi to remove her baby.
