Why 12 Boko Haram Wives Surrender To Civilian JTF(Photo)

At least 12 wives of Boko Haram insurgents
have surrendered to vigilantes in Askira-Uba
LGA of Borno state.
According to Sahara Reporters, a Civilian JTF
member in the area Apagu Istifanus disclosed
that there had been two pregnant women
among the women who had surrendered
themselves between August 31 and
September 1. The women explained how their
husbands had abandoned them because of
lack of food and fuel.
Istifanus was quoted as saying:
“On Monday four of them came to Askira. After
thorough investigation they told us that their
husbands could no longer feed them that they
are many in the bush but more were still
coming, they have been taken to Biu town for
more information.

Injured In Renewed Attacks In Borno
”Yesterday at about four pm another eight
surfaced again, two of them several months
pregnant, their husbands had left them and their
children at Ngude village in Damboa local
government area. But we have handed over to
the military, they have moved them to Mubi.”

The vigilante attributed the development
to the army successfully stopping supplies
reaching the sect and to the generally brilliant
performance of the troops in recent months.
A military source, who asked for anonymity,
confirmed the incident adding that:
“You see we don’t disclose how we operate to
journalists, but the truth is this, they (Boko
Haram) are feeling the heat because most of
their camps is either destroyed or taken over by
our troops.”
It is known that the Nigerian military has
stepped up operations against the dreaded
sect, making it harder for the terrorists to get
vital supplies.
On Wednesday, September 2, the Nigerian Air
Force destroyed Boko Haram’s power-
generating solar panels in Sambisa forest .
This comes shortly after troops retook
Gamboru-Ngala town in Borno state .
In another development a suicide bomber,
who was attempting to blow up a motor park
in Bauchi state, was arrested with explosive
devices on him.
